Beyond Earths Paradise
TO a great marble
house of Time
I came a lonely guest;
He said Whatever riches you own,
Jewels and silver and the rest
Submit to me and I
will bestow
On you the costliest boon,
Beauty and immaculate love,
Lifes crowning desire, hewn
From heavens
perfect peace and joy;
In a frail mortal frame
Moments of immortality
And Gods red passion-ame!
In his bright
mansion proud and high
I lived a very king,
Love owed around me like a stream
And beauty blossomed, a golden spring.
Happy was I as none
has been,
Lost in a glinting world,
All my dreams intimately woven
In wavy locks and golden-curled.
My eyes drank like
delicious wine
Gaze of a white felicity
And glowed as with a starry re
Of wide sky-ecstasy.
But winter came and
a chill frost
Froze the heart of the moon,
For morning buds and laughing streams
A grave of snow- white swoon.

There came a deep and quiet voice:
Love has his short-lived hour:
His red re fades and beauty dies
Turn to a greater power,
Pass by his
transient earthly gifts;
Only by a bleeding sacrice
Of all you hold and crave and cherish
Is won the Timeless Paradise!
